New to the Stereo game...

Hi guys,

I am fairly new to the stereo game and am looking at purchasing a new deck for my car as a start. I have the stock 4 speaker 2 tweeter system and was wondering what type of things I should be aware off such as deck specifications and what not.

My pal bought a deck for his '98 318i (HK Stereo 10 speakers) and had problems with the volume as he had to turn the volume all the way to the max in order to get decent sound. He said he had to buy a certain plug or converter in order for the volume to work properly.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
