Installing just an amp and subs on stock system

My sister is driving my car while i'm away at college and she just bought an amp and 2 10" subs, and i'm going to try and install it for her. I just finished helping with a custom install like this on my friend's E34, but he had an aftermarket head unit -- I am satisfied with my stock setup for now, and don't want to change it.

I'm quite capable of doing the install myself, but I am just looking for some guidance on what to do before I go poking around in my trunk. Has anyone installed just and amp and subs that has some sort of tutorial around? (Searching DTM didn't yield much help) Is this going to be a horrible setup? Will I need to stick a crossover in the line somewhere? Where should I tap into the stock wiring?

Basically any help is appreciated. Thanks a lot.

(oh, and the amp is a Pyramid 1000W 2 channel (500x2 i'm sure), bridgable, 2 ohm stable amp. I'm not too crazy about it, but i suppose it will work. I dont know what the subs are because she doesn't have them yet)
