neeed a system cause mine is a p.o.s.

So heres where i stand. I have a '94 325is. I have an Alpine 7893 headunit, Boston Acoustic speakers in the footwells, stock speakers and tweeters in the door panel, and kenwood 100W 4in. in the rear deck. This is all on a stock amp.

I want a new amp which can provide full potential to all my speakers and power 2 10 or 12 inch subs. So what kind of speakers should i get for my doors or should i move the kenwoods up frnt and get something else in the rear deck? should i get new tweeters?

What amp and subs do u recommend for my setup? Thanks.

Depending on how nice the Boston's are, I'd keep them and get rid of the rest. I like Boston (the higher end stuff) and MB Quart for nice sounding mids. Get a nice set of components for the front from either. You won't be disappointed.

For the back, depends on how crazy you want to get. I just have a set of mid-range, mid-priced Apline's and they seem to do the trick just fine. For me, they're pretty much just there for rear fill. I don't have any more than 2 people in my car at any given time so it's no biggie.

Amps, there are so many to choose from... I've got a couple of high end clarion's and I'm really pleased with the sound output from them. One is powering my mids and the other is running my sub.

Ii'll start this with a warning...i'm an alpine whore...that said you can probably guess whats coming. Alpine makes some of the best components out there...the reason for this being that they are high quality (above average though not quite up to the MB Quart and Boston level...but close) but they are reasonably price. I have type-r components and i got them for 180 a set ( i have 2) which is not hard to do if you do some negotiating with your audio shop (you may be able to get lower). For compnents i have an F340 amp for the components. the sound i get is great (the only thing i don't like is that have 2 pairs of 2-way components and i wish i had put a pair of coaxes in the rear deck to get a little more punchy bass, but all that will be fixed once i get subs. Alpine makes a couple of amps for speakers that are great (the f340 f450 are the two i would reccomend for their cost/output ratio). I haven't kept my knowledge of Alpine current so i know theyhave some newer component amps...now the vibe i got from your post is that you wanted one amp for the speakers and subs...i wouldn't reccomend that I just think that thats alot of strain for one amp...personal preference. Again i am a biased person when it comes to audio i have no problem with MB Quart and Boston...i chose alpine because of the price and the fact taht alpines sound better when they're cranked up...MB Quart and boston are made for flawless sound and they sacrifice the ability to blast music and have it sound good (they distort a little at high volume). SO it all depends on your cash flow and music style. Good luck.

alpine is all good but if u think type R's are some of the best then u really need to venture out and listen to more speakers. components are very subjective though. especially the tweeters.

i agre with u go with a nice component set up front but leave the rear fill out as its pointless if u have a good front stage. Unless u would like to put some midbass drivers in the rear. Any decent amp with a High pass filter will do the job.
and amps do not put out sound. they amplifly. and THD up to 3% is inaudible to the human ear. so u will not notice a difference between in sound between a zapco amp and a JBL amp.

I never said they were the best...in fact i said they weren't the best i agree the boston and mb quart have better sound quality. what i said was that alpine was the best for what you get for it...you pay the extra money for the quarts or the bostons and you get a great speaker but when you crank it you get distortion...they're meant for mid to low volume music with extreme quality. for the money you pay for the alpines and the quality you get they are the best. you should read closer. i have heard all of the top end speakers...and i know that others sound better but to me the extra money isn't worth it.

yeah they can be had for cheaper than 180 too. I got my crystal CSC's for 140 and they are amazing for the price. The type R tweeters were way too much for me as well as anything from Mb Quart.
If u think that MbQuart and Boston are only for moderate listening levels and distort when u turn it up then u do not know how to setup a system.

You're right i don't...all the speakers that i heard that weren't the ones i bought i heard in an audio store...and they distorted when they were cranked.

the type R Alpine 6x9 back deck speakers are horrible, for $200 they suck, i went through 2 pairs because the tweeter kept vibrating so much that they became loose, so i got the Bostons for the same price, but with the new car, i took out the back speakers to better port the sound

I agree with that...the 6x9's are a weakness in the alpine line...the construction of them is lackin.
