radio code

I need the code for my radio I took out the battery to install my HID's and thought I had the code but no luck, I went to BMW of BAYSIDE and they told me since I didnt buy the car from them it was going to cost me $50.00 for the code....WTF!!!!!!, for a simple code, unreal any way I bought a plug from crutchfield for my SONY but it does'nt come in till the weekend since the holiday weekend and I really need some tunes, Does any have any way of getting me the code???? I really refuse to pay the stealer $50 for something that does not even take them 30 seconds to look up(and I only need it till I install my SONY), I feel like writting a letter to bmwna of the corruption (not the first time I had issues with them ) ,the way they try to take advantage of people and feel like they can get away with it since they are the only dealer around the area.

Hi there,

It looks like you are out of luck, the only person can unlock the code is your dealer! Unless if you buy another radio like the sony where you dont need the code, the best bet is just wait till you get the sony deck!! The dealer uses special software that reads the code from the radio! Unless they use the serial number that I don't know! Hope this helps.. Don't have alot of options!

I'm in the same situation now and went to Bayside BMW this morning. They told me $60. I have never had such negative experiences dealing with any dealer. I ordered over $500 of parts there, special order,I call to inquire, they say everything is in. Im so excited that I leave work and go there to get it. When I get there they say that not only they do not have it, that the order was not placed ?? I then wait another week only for them to tell me they cant get the parts...

speak to Tony the service manager he is a pretty cool guy,
I ended up paying I think like 30 dollars or so, coughed it up since I need the code sooner or later but the thing is I wrote it on the radio so this time I cant lose the code.......
