i need some advice please

i am looking into getting some stereo equipment and need the opinion of some people that understand all of this. i want to get an alpine head unit (last years model that was black w/orange buttons). i believe it has a 60x4 amp built in. i have jl components right now but i am not totally satisfied with them so i will probably switch to mb quart speakers when i replace the factory head. to top it off i am thinking about a jl 12w6 in the trunk facing the back with a jl 500x1 amp. i have no back seat to separate the trunk from the cabin so keep that in mind while considering this set up.

should i do it? how much do you think this is worth? including install?

Well, the head unit that you are looking at is the Alpind CDA- 7894, and it is the same exact head unit that I have....which is a very nice deck I must say. You should be able to get one for $299

As for your component set...what is the model number on them? Sometimes is not a matter of different speakers, but a matter of different install.

As for the amp, JL 500/1 is a nice amp...I am not sure of the cuurent price, but somewhere around $250-$350 I think.

You should be able to get a new JL W6v2 (looks like a W7 ) for$325-$425........... and then after that its just a matter of the install. It all depends on what you want it to look like, and how much money you have.

Some places will do it really cheap if you buy all the stuff from them...I actually live near a place that has free installation on whatever you buy from them......but that is just basic install stuff.....no fancy shit with fiberglass or anything like that.

yeah it does, thanks. the prices you quoted all sound lower than the shops and they do not do free install. im not trying to get anything fancy and especially nothing heavy. i just want to be able to hear my music and show off occasionally.

any idea where i can pick up one of those decks? and what did u mean by speakers vs install? i had one of the jl speakers blow and i can send it back to get a new one. i have always heard that mb quart is better and i have an opportunity to get a full set for about 150 new. i can probably sell the old speakers for close to that.

if u know anybody looking for speakers then send them my way. when they are for sale only one of them will be used since one 5.25 will be replaced with a new one and i never installed the 3/4 tweets. they are good speakers, just not what i want.
