computer system in car ..need advice

My friend who has a 325 ci is about to get a system....

Here is the deal, my friend has done loads of research, and is actually putting a COMPUTER for the dvd/mp3/etc...playback. He is planning on keeping the same bmw head unit and flush mountng a screen in the front dashboard (yea, to keep it clean and elegant). So yea, he is spending a lot of money there, so he has to cut it from somwhere.... and here is where I am coming to you guys.

For 500$, what is the best amp/sub combo deal (including install) that you can come up with. Something that hits hard, but still doesn't sound like those goons who shake a whole neighborhood.... but still hit really hard, and you can still shake a group when you are stopped at a red light

He was thinking of 2 10" subs .. maybe jl ... what do you guys think

$500 bucks i think u need to spend a lil more than that..... a decent amp is like 250 and the a sub alone is goin to start at 250 and there's the wireing and then the proper box..... start at around $1000.......


ok hmm a jl amp 500/1 is around 450.00
jl 12w6v2 is around 280

correct buit box lets say 150

some wireing $75

and thats not a crazy down the block i can hear u comming at me
system..... yes u can buy cheaper woofers like kicker or some off brand and u can buy some off brand amps..... but u get what u pay for...... u can buy a bazooka bass tube 10 inch that is amped for like 375 but u wont like it... bass tubes r a lil hard since there is alot of metal in the rear... they sound pretty good in a hatch back

you could probalby pull off a IDMAX with a Memphis 1500D for about 800 plus cost of install stuff re: box, wires and such. and that thing would hit like no other, its what i hope to run to my max some day. And that price would be for parts found on ebay.
