installed alpine 9813..radio not working

I just installed the headunit on my dads 350z. The cd/mp3 works fine, the music sounds fine but the radio doesn't work too well. I get some FM channels and one or two am channels. I double checked that the antenna was connected. Any ideas what might be wrong?

cant really help you too much, since i dont know much about 350z's
only thing i think i could mention is that maybe it has a power antenna and the power to it isnt connected?
