| Do you have factory amps on any of the speakers? This happened to my 89 GTC lebaron (since deceased from a rear end accident) when I put in an aftermarket stereo (Kenwood CD player). After the install I would get sound from the radio but (same as you) no sound when playing CD's. I took it to a car stereo installer and they found that the four of the six stock speakers in the car had small amps on them. This is what caused no sound when playing a CD. Don't know why this happens but I just ended up replacing the speakers with infinity reference series and it resolved my problem. Hope this helps

| I just put a kenwood CD player in my e36 and had the same problem. Thought my player was bad, but hooked up speaker seperately from the rest of the system and works fine. My guess is that when you switch to cd, the head unit puts out more voltage, which means more power. I think this is overloading the factory amp and turning it off. I think the only solution is to by-pass the amp, or add your own aftermarket one. I am going to try this this week so I can let you know how it goes. |

| I am pretty sure both those options will work. I can tell you from experience that both those setups worked for me as I first bypassed the stock amps and then later bought a aftermaket amp and new speakers. Let me know how your setup turns out. Glad to see I was able helped a fellow DTMer with my out of the ordinary knowledge.

| HELP! Stereo powers on, but no sound from spekers! anyone perhaps try that? i installed my Alpine CDA-9815 and have the same exact problem as you are describing, and i really dont want to bypass the factory amp since i think it provides clean sound to all my speakers as it is as for that link, i'm going to try that tommorrow and see what i come up with |

| well, i hooked the remote wire to the power ant. wire and the amp now works when i play cd's ![]() so i guess its just some cd players turn the power ant wire off and some dont |

| I'm having the same thing happen now...think hooking the remote up to the power ant will fix my issue? I have an Alpine CDA - 7876
