Euro E36 M3 swap in an e30

I have wanted a euro M3 for quite sometime now and I have tried to figure out if it would be possible in any way to import one whole from europe, but after much deliberation, I have decided that it would not be a good idea. I do, however, still want the M3 evo engine in an e30 for some kind of a track car. Since you guys live in Canada, have any of you ever heard of anyone doing this swap?

Basically what I am talking about is driving an e30 up to canada, swaping the engine out with the 3.2 euro motor and driving back down to the states. Any info would be helpful...thanks

The SportEvo motor (S14) would fit. Can't you get it anywhere in the states?

Oh yeah...I know that will fit...but I was wondering is if anyone has access to a Euro 3.2 M3 engine up there since they are impossible to get in the US...and if so, would it be possible to drive a car back down across the boarder of Canada with the new engine in it, with out them raising any eyebrows?

Usuakky Auto Trader is a pretty good source for engines. You're looking for a pretty rare motor though.
As far as the boarder guards go, they won't know the difference if you swapped the motor unless you say something.

Which autotrader....the ones in portland and san francisco only have fully funtional cars...is there an 'enginetrader'?

The motor is rare here, but there are many of them in europe...I wonder if there are many in Canada?

I don't know about the AutoTrader's in the States, but you can usually find engines in the AutoTrader's in Canada. You have to look through every page & ad because they're easy to miss.

Dumb question, but have you searched the net?

Yeah, I have searched a little bit, but not much. I know I could order a new 3.2 from Germany for only $9,000, but then to ship it would be another $3,000 to Canada and there is the problem of having to go up there to do the swap and I don't really have any good buddies that live up there, etc, etc. Lots of little problems, but definately something to think about. Nothing would be sicker than to have a 3.2 euro M3 engine in an e30 M3 body and drive that around....OMG!

Seriously, that would be SWEEEEEEET!
Something else to consider when purchasing from Germany...if the motor is built in Germany, you will have to pay an additional tariff/tax as they're not part of NAFTA (obviously). The amount varies by state/province.

....and another problem....now a tariff. It's probably not even worth my time to do it. I should just AA turbo a 3.2 obd1 conversion and throw that into an e30 M3 shell. I know that I could find the evo M3 6-speed in the states....that would be the best part.

Oh yeah...speaking of 6-speeds....I had the chance to drive a 3.0 euro M3 convertible....it was rediculous. It had the weaker motor of the two, it was a convertible, the clutch was slipping and it was still retarded fast! If you ever have the chance to drive a euro M3, I highly recommend it.

There was a guy posting an evo M3 motor with tranny for 10k, but it had 70k miles on it and it was in dallas. For that kind of money I might as well buy a new one.
