Shadowline Trim Methods? (POLL)

Whats best, to use some Black Tape, or take it off and paint it?

Give pros/cons of each, and costs. Id like to do this simple task soon. Thanks guys.

The good tape that people use works well and is extremely difficult to tell that it tape. There once was a good DIY on the web, I believe someone with a E34 but I forget. Anyways I have seen tape in person and it looks really good if done well.

I'm actually leaning towards painting my trim. Everyone that has used the black out trim tape has said it was difficult and time consuming, not that removal and painting is not but it's more something I'm comfortable with. Just my $.02

I definitely reccomend painting over tape, as a tape-d owner. My tape is starting to come off, even though I used the 'good tape'. I would just spend the $12 for the tool to take it off and paint it with rustoleum epoxy paint. HTH

How long did your tape last there, and was it the trimbrite one? What tool takes it off for 12 bucks?

Only if you put it on wrong, or damage it during removal.

You could always buy the factory pieces too.

Painting is not worth all the trouble, trust me. It chips no matter what. Ive seen my feriends use the tape and it looks just as good, and takes half the time. Also if its done right, cannot be differentiated from painting. Painting was a PITA lemme tell you. I have it painted. Thats my 2 cents from experience.

Painting will probably look a little better, but it seems SO much harder than taping it. If you don't like how the tape comes out you can always just take it off and then remove the trim and paint it....
