S52 M3 engine for sale! (NoVA)

For all you interested, my friend is selling an S52 from a 1998 M3. Engine has 11,694 on it, and the tranny and ecu is included. Asking 5500 for the lot. Also has some other stuff. PM me for more information. Located in NoVA

Isn't the us 3.2 m3 motor an m52? I thought only the euro motors carried the s- designation.

ALL M cars have the S designation.

the US is called the S52B32US

the Euro is called the S52B32EURO

You should get your facts straight before you go off saying something like that...

The S50B32 is the 3.2L euro engine... It has the double vanos system... There is no S52B32 engine.

The "S52" is one name for the US 3.2L engine that is only a single vanos system, like the M52 series of engines it was derived from - found in other e36 3-series bmw's... because of that; some call it the M52B32 engine... but it normally is called the S52 just so that the US people don't feel left out of the "S" engine crowd.

So; take your pick - S50B32 or S52... those are your two choices for 3.2L e36 M3 engines... depending on which side of the pond you reside.

Edit: Oh; haha - just looked at the date of the post... sorry for responding to a random script that brought a dead thread back to life.

Hello , thats also a dead answer.
BMW tells that S is for, in German "Sondermotor"
The S 52 is technical equal to the M52 its only pimped by Cams and bore and Stroke to the M52 B28.
The S52 engine is Only built for the Oversea markets, not for ECE or germany.

Who get there facts straight? You are the one with some wrong info. The s50 US version is not a 3.2, it is a 3.0. The 96'-99' M3 had the S52B32. Who calls it an M52B32? I guess people that don't know.
