Is this a good buy?

Hi i am new here but ive been on the market for an e36 model coupe or sedan for a few months now and i live in SA. Unfortunately the options i have here are very limited and the cars are either overpriced or in bad condition.

I was just wondering if i could get some feedback here regarding a car im interested. The link is below. Its done fair bit of kms is it a no no to buy such high kms? Price should be able to go below $10k as this guy was too confident at first. Let me know what your thoughts are.

Seems about $3500 to high for my liking considering age and K's. It does however look in fairly good nick. It says log books, so I guess it has been serviced regularly. Be interesting to see what has been done as far as part replacement goes.

Look for something with a few less k's and a later model. 95 upwards would be a better buy. Whats your budget?

At 9k you are going to be limited. So concentrate on something with full service history.

yes i agree with DCR62, they are asking a bit much considering the k's and the yr. the condition looks pretty good though. I have seen some alright looking e36's on carsales.com.au for 7k-9k. If no luck try some auctions......... cheers brad

As neat as it looks that car is definately over priced. I've seen newer cars with almost half of milage sell for less than that one.

There's no shortage of bargain 4cyl E36s out there so keep on looking

Yeah abit overpriced i reckon. What about a 320i? does the 320i consume much more petrol compared to a 318i. Looking for an automatic as partner cant drive a manual.

We are worried that the fuel consumption is going to kill us.

I think you might find fuel consumption to be the same in the 320i as the 318i as the 6cyl won't have to work as hard as the 4cycl

I understand your issue about little variety of cars, my mate in Perth had the same issue when looking for an E30. It sucks, and usually means your going to have to pay a premium.

I paid 11.5K for my 325i auto with 205,000, full service history and pretty good nick. so remember there are some good deals out there just be patient. I wanted a 325/8i and looked for 3 hardcore months before I found mine. Good luck!

This one just popped up today. Will be heading off to see it tomorrow and hopefully sell my 92 honda prelude tomorrow as well.

Let me know what you guys think of this one. Price is negotiable but dont know to what extent. Offered him 8k but he said was too low. See how it goes tomorrow upon inspection.

Feedback is most appreciated! thanks guys

Looks good but doesn't mention service history, you might want to run that past the owner.

It's a newer M44 engined model with good options for a reasonable price imo. I doubt you'll get it for anywhere near $8k.

u say u want a auto but both of the cars you have shown us have been manual.... :-S ??? I just was on car sales and searched for the SA only and it came up with quite a few E36's that look alright although most of the k's are around the 200k mark. BMW - Private Used BMW Cars - carsales.com.au hope this helps, Brad

Hi i stumbled across this car. Its from melbourne but i am willing to travel down to get it. Let me know what you guys think. Havent seen this colour before.

Also is the signature edition any better than standard? Still in the hunting for a decent e36. This guy is letting it go for 8.5.
