| X3s aren't worth the money. You'd get some nice extras too with the Kluger.

| I think X3's are great little cars. The new 2.0d's will be out of your price range. Personally i'd be looking at a 3.0d, privately im sure you could pick up one with reasonable kilometres for around the $50k mark. I personally would buy a diesel X3 3.0d over x3 3.0i, 120d over 120i, 320d over 320i and working in the industry i drive these cars everyday. When you talk about the earlier models, the performance was good but the newer SI engines are definitely a league above the older ones.

| nah prado looks outdated and squarish..wouldn't mind the new Landcruiser 200 series, freaking awesome! yeah kluger is definitely more practical and value for money, can't beat it. but then again given i'm a huge BMW euthuaist. i would like to have a prestige 4WD rather driving a fleet like Ford, Nissan,Toyota etc. an old 3.0si would be nice but most of them are around $60k. What about freelander/discovery3? don't see many of these on the road, are they reliable?

My next question is 'What are you going to use the 4wd for?' Do you go four wheel driving often, or tow heavy loads frequently, transport family etc etc. If its just going to be for city use I suggest your stick with bmw as it would be smoother and more elegant. Sorry bout the essay I get a little too excited when it comes to 4wds as my first car was a 1974 Landcruiser convert.

| It'll be mainly use for city driving and occasionally interstate holiday trip, doubt I'll be doing any serious off-road! I reckon the updated X3 looks heaps better than the previous model, it now has colour coded bumper and more aggressive headlight - looks pretty sporty and luxury.

| To me it just looks like it wants to be an X5 but its not. As Aaron said, maybe even get the older generation X5. Still a better 4WD than the X3.

| the older generation X5 E53 looks outdated too, it was built off of the E39 chassis. it is bigger and heavier than the X3, but doesn't have more usable room. the current E70 X5 was an all new car in 2007. it is bigger than the old X5, but has a lot more usable room inside. The E70 is a much newer design then the current X3 and has all the latest gadgets and luxury features. that said, i'd take an X3 over an E53 X5 anyday.

| Well there's no point to this thread anymore, you're telling yourself which car to get. Get an X3.
