Stay away from dunlop expensive, older tread design and very average, if you want a good non directional tyre, look at a toyo teo, that size, should normally be somewhere around $115-$120, good levels of grip, rather quiet, good touring tyre for european vehicles.

You can go to a michelin who make a new XM1 which has a pretty good price, ive seen them on special recently for the low $130's.

Kumho KH15's arent too bad either, good grip, fairly hard wearing, bit cheaper than the toyos.

If you want anything high performance you really need to look at changing sizes because there isnt much in the range of performance tyres in that profile.

We sell them, living in the mountain range we do, the roads are average, so normal wear goes out the window. Our customers probably get on average 40k km out of them, id probably expect someone living in the city or urban areas to get a fair bit more out of them, probably upwards of 50k km.

Just make sure you keep good pressure in them, make sure your alignment is good and have them rotated and balanced every 10k km (mainly so any problems with alignment can be picked up early). The are a very closed tread with chamfered edges, the compound contains silica, so it provides pretty good wear resistance while offering good levels of grip in the wet and dry.

For the price, the toyos are probably the best tyre in the 205/65R15 bracket imho.

you can read about them here if you want

The correct size for the e36 is 205/60 R15

Currently running Yoko C Drives at the mo. 35,000kms, 2 trackdays, 2 days on the skidpan and constant hard mountain/country driving

Back two are getting on for replacement though. Around $140 a corner or so.
