Long time no speak! Back in the market for a little car, and have found a nice little 325Ti which looks well kept. Question re: lights, can Xenons be fitted? Something non dodgy but still very usable (hoping similar to factory) if so, what would be the cost?

The car is a 03 model.

to fit HID on OEM E46 reflector headlight is going to create some glare for the on coming trafic, but still can be done, you'll either modify the bulb holder or get a pair of bulb holders that's designed to use aftermarket hid bulbs for e46.

if you mean to fit factory Xenons (i.e. OEM HID with projectors lense), i don't think they ever offer that on Ti series.

if you mean retrofitting a pair of projector headlights on your original head light, it can be done, but involves a lot of cutting / drilling etc.

it is indeed very easy... with the way E46 compact head light was designed, probably won't create too much glare... (btw what's bulb fitment on compact, is it H7?)

HID kit $150 max,

bulb holder $50

total $200 .......

after market HID is illegal in most countries...

I thought I needed to cut and grind? which I most certainly do NOT want to do...

Any recommendations on kits? The lights apparently already have self leveling motors and automatic headlights... Would the self leveing assist in reducing glare?

Why are you looking for a small car when you already have the S3? Have you also considered the 1 series? 120d is a great bit of kit.

first you need to confirm if your compact has a H7 bulb fitment?

if so, you don't need to cut and grind... you siimply need to get a bulb holder for HID bulb... they costs around $80 to $100 bux.

HID kit costs around $100 bux

so say $200 bux for a set of HID on your compact is cheap.

you go to your user manual to find the bulb fitment, or simply take your head light bulb out to find out.
