sunroof switch

the sunroof switch on my e36 seems a bit intermittent. sometimes its lit up when i start the car it doesnt light up always, and wont open. after some time the switch will light up and it will open/close, however some times it will open and after a time it will not close. a little frustrating and luckly i can dump it into the garage till it decides to work again.

anyone had sucess with sunroof/window switches ie cleaning them and getting them to work again. does contact cleaner work, or do i just source another switch - and are they the same as window switches?

EXACTLY the same thing happens to my sunroof, eventually it will just stop working. i tried all the wiring in the looms cleaned them, re-plugged them and it worked for like 3months then went to its old habit

Apparently theres a re-lay in the glove box called the "comfort relay" which you replace and it works like new. But i havent been bothered to look if there is such a relay in there, dont think so...
