Al - did you ditch the aircon/radio/door trims as well?

Strap a turbo on that baby....

Don't think he strpped the aircon/radio. Car has no door trims though.

Should have weighed it! Bit hard to work out how much weight you stripped accurately. Until next time I guess

I took out what I could manage in about 1 hour, anything els is too much trouble. so rear seats, passenger seat, doortrims, spare, jack , bootlining, and after 6 runs, took headlight out to see if any different, traps remained same, I am pretty sure 12 sec pass was with headlight still in, as track got slipperier as day went on
edit: just checked, 12 sec run was 5th for day, headlight was definately still in

Heathcote is not an ANDRA sanctioned track so it doesn't *have* to have an accurate weighbridge. Alan will know if they do have one or not?

Here's Alan's weight reduction program. Good work for an hour!

Ben, I don't think Alan has ever said it's stock!

Apart from the weight reduction and race rubber, with the redline increased and the other performance mods it now makes 20-40 rwhp more than a stock E36 M3 with S50B32!

Alan, awesome effort. From memory you're running R compound tyres which are heaps stickier than street radials, but still no where near as good as drag radials for drag racing.

My best short times are:
+ Street radials (Yokohama 285/35 R18) = 1.960 [23 passes]
+ Drag Radials (BF Goodrich Drag Radials 275/50 R15) = 1.871 [21 passes]
+ Slicks (MT ET Drag 26"x10") = 1.600 [4 passes]

So I know how much skill it takes to get a 1.8x short time on R17 R Compound tyres!

thanks for the comments guys, there is no weighbridge at heathcote, I asked, haven't put anything back in yet, and there is brand new, just certified bridge here in town, so will weigh legit race weight before reassemble. (main reason for doortrim removal was inserts are debonding, so have to glue them before reinstalling) the only variable is amount of fuel, which I will note for accuracy

tyres I am using, are too hard and too narrow for me to use at circuit day, they came with some wheels I bought from guy in sydney doing V8 conversion in his M3. 225/45/17, but yes, easier to hook up than sport pilots. after I get diff, might try dunlop direza M1 R compounds I have in 245/40/17, they are much softer, so would be worth a try

1440 raceweight isn't too shabby! That's only 3170 odd pounds.

My E46 race weight is 1613 kilos (3550 pounds)
