The E30 style rear ends under a compact result in an incredibly light arse which isn't really condusive to it hooking up nice... That was with R compound tires (R888 Toyo's) but I didn't get enough heat into them.

As for HP, only making as much as you and SimonM Gotta love dyno numbers! Not bad for tall gearing either!

You're right. That's the worst launch and slowest shifting I've ever seen of any drag race ever! I'm sure you can better that ET.

Your car must be gutted; you can hear the tranny linkages like a megaphone!
Yeah, I'll better the ET one day, perhaps next year when the Coupe' returns!

Its not really gutted, its just the rear end copping a flogging as it gets loaded up, same at the circuit in all the shorter gears.

what weight is your car? must be a fair bit lighter than my 1440kg lump (semi stripped interior, but with me in it)

I am not so sure that the rear end is the problem.
Your mate Ramia didn't seem to have too much trouble getting a decent launch with his Compact and as far as I recall he was claiming similar power to what your car has, details of his passes are here:

RT 318ti does 13.318 @ 105.99mph

I'd say Ben is making even more power than Ramia.

Post up your slip Gotta knock that E30 off

It's 12.73@ 114.80 MPH with a 2.17 60 foot time correct?

Slightly upset about something Erik?
Was nice to see you on Saturday at the Creek. Thanks for taking the time to say "Hi"!!

As for my ET, yes it is way off what it should be and that is completely due to a crap launch on my behalf resulting in a slow 60'. No disputing that! A bit more time at the strip and I'm sure I could get it sorted out... If I recall correctly, that was my 4th ever pass and the first time that I have done a hard launch in the car. Thanks for suggesting that I can't drive for shit, as that would seem to be the case here!

Ben, I don't think Erik is upset, he's just helping you out with facts about the rear end of your car.

Also I can't see anything in Erik's post that says you ".. can't drive for shit ..". Turn that frown upside down!

Dunno, not for a few weeks.

Kinda done with my M3 for the mean time and are happy for put more focus on my GTR & E30 at the moment.

I've got a friendly competition with Erik, so I'll head out again with my E30 when he's ready to rock.

What would I be upset about? By the way love the sarcasm!
Maybe you should ask yourself why would I want to say "Hi"? After all it's well known to me that you talk a mountain of crap about me and the workshop behind my back to a variety of people, not the greatest base for being on good terms is it now!

Can you read my post properly! I am not saying that you can't go quicker or that you can't drive! Anyone with half an idea can see that with good traction and the trap your running you have the potential to run into the 12s.
I am simply stating that I don't think the rear end is such a big issue for your car at this point in time, some of the quickest 1/4 mile BMWs in the world use the same rear end.

Anyway lets get back to discussing the BMW drag racing!
