Errol, great short time! I knew you'd enjoy it when the air got colder!

Ben, good improvement, you're getting closer to an E46 M3 now! Would be a good race between you and Errol if you got a better launch.

Worst 60' possible! First time to the strip with this car, infact first hard launch with the car ever!
The car is quite stiff in the arse which isn't suited to hooking up and drag racing in general but I'm sure I could get it down if so inclined. If I felt like changing the car around to hook up nice, I'm sure I could get it into a low 12 with its current amount of power and its current weight.

Vid of pass
2500rpm launch
(right click, save as!)

soft rear suspension will only make it worse, do a google search for anti squat + suspension for an explanation. less rebound on front shocks would help, R compound tyres aren't too bad either. must be making reasonable hp for that trap

Yeah I'm in the same boat with my E30, it's not set up for drag racing in the suspension either. Still it's firm which if good. It's always good fun to get out and have a go. Do you have any more weight you could pull out of it if you wanted? Sounds fucking loud in the video! No interior or sound deadener obviously

Hey, how'd you do the footage? Use a bullet cam with external mic? Or just a DV Cam? Looks good

Alan, it's running R compounds. Are you planning on heading out again now the weather has dropped off a bit?

yep, another forum is having a drag day end of june, I want to see if commadore interceptors fit over my brakes, and borrow some with D/Rs on them and better my 1.78 60' time, as well as hopefully mid 12's

Love the movie Ben, it's always good to see the action!

You're right. That's the worst launch and slowest shifting I've ever seen of any drag race ever! I'm sure you can better that ET.

Your car must be gutted; you can hear the tranny linkages like a megaphone!

Yep, only just started pulling weight out of it. The only thing thats out of it really at the moment is the carpet, but the rest of the sound deadening material is on its way out this weekend - seriously heavy shit!

Surprisingly enough, its really not that loud! Remind me to take you for a spin some day...

Footage is off a JVC digital cam that spools all data to solid state memory (CF or SD) sitting on an IO Port mount (from the states) which is attached to the cage. Its got a urathane bush in it which keeps the footage steady in the car around the circuit which is its intended purpose.
