my car's fOOked....

went for a rego check yesterday, everything checked out fine, the guy was wondering why there was rubber all over the wheel wells and mud flaps i dunno how it got there, anyway he showed me my shock mounts were worn out, a rubber bushing that supports the shock absorber, it was cracked all the way round the shock and there was a bit of movement in it, i was like FUUU*K!...he said it was alright but would have to be looked at pretty soon, i went for a bit of a burn on one of the tourist drives around bowral here and hit a fair big pothole...the bump sent the shockie through the rubber support and into my bonnet, locked up the left wheel, snapped my control arm and blew a hose off my steering box and cracked a seal on it or something..my cars fu*ked..tyre has a fat flat spot on it and bent a steering arm, was pissing steering fluid everywhere, was going round 150 when it hit..not happy..cars already in the shop getting fixed, 7-10 days aparrently...cant wait to get the bill......guess im talking it up a bit, ill get some pics for you lot, doesnt "look" that bad...no damage to my bonnet, its just lifted one side.

soz, had to edit it, i said id snapped a control arm, i snapped the sway bar, my bad...

Sorry to hear that, but......thats is truely screwed!!!! edit: I was about to say your whole control arm!...still a sway bar is a good effort!

Man where in Bowral? I am there reguluary and some of the roads are really BAD especially around my place. I lost my licence on the old hume highway between mittagong and bowral for doing speeds that you say you were doing....go and rape the council for the repairs for your car!

i reckon, man that bit you got picked up at, i know sooo many ppl who get caught there...bad luck, the tourist drive i was on is absolutely awesome for a good fang, if you go along Old South Road, first left off of the Hume Hwy, follow that for 10 mins and youll come to a + intersection, there you turn left, bout 10 k's of mad road but its verrrry dangerous, loads of blind bends and crests...and zero cops.

Seems everyone's cars are having misfortunes!

I feel for ya mate and hope repairs go well.

Could this be an insurance coverable issue?

thanks guys, read about your engine dilemma Chi, dont worry man, she'll be sweet in a few weeks. As for insurance, my friend had his 318ti E36 fixed after he slammed into a gutter, cost him only like $280 in excess... Might be able to help me out, ill be speaking to him tomoz. Pretty scary tho, the left locked up and pulled really hard, a long left bend was the only reason i didnt slam into the embankment...my rotors are rooted, now this...a E36 is looking mighty sweet right about now...thank god i didnt bust my rims...id be shitting bricks...

Sorry to hear.

Let me get this straight. Someone pointed out a potential problem with the shock mount and then you went for a strap though the mountain roads. Am I reading that correctly.

why on earth would you take your car out for a fang if you knew there was something wrong with it. I would have thought you would have been driving around on eggshells until you got it fixed.

well, the shock bushing was worn out, it looked a bit stuffed but my mechanic said it'd be good for a while now but itll need attention within a few weeks, i was under the impression that meant, it was alright...so anyway, i wasnt counting on not seeing a phat canyon sized pothole too...i only have myself to blame...fu*k.......
