| Hi Dom Anything particular you would like to know about them? Quite simply the V8's are a two car make race: Holden and Ford. The Ford Falcon and ther Holden Commodore. Both these vehicles are Aussie built sedans on the street. Despite having smaller engines than their road ready versions (the SS Commodore has a 6 litre motor and the Falcon XR8 has a 5.4 L motor) the V8 Supercars run 5 litre highly tuned pushrod v8's. The cars are heavily governed in what can be added and modified. They are infact quite oldschool. They have a solid rear axle suspension system, normal 'H' Pattern 6 speed gearbox like a normal car, use the older style pushrod engines, not overhead cams, they only use one brand of tyre (Dunlop) and they are not allowed traction control. This might sound very crazy that they are so simple but it makes for great racing! The Aussies love the rawness of it. There are 14 rounds that are held around Australia and in New Zealand and just recently Bahrain. They were held in China for one season as well. The fan base is is Australian and New Zealander. The actual series began in 1993, after it was decided to create a V8 only competition. Holden and Ford had been racing in the previous touring car series, and were quite dominant. However the rise of the Nissan Skyline and Ford Sierras saw the v8's being smashed by turbo cars, so they broke away into their own class. They make around 650bhp and weigh 1350kg. Obviously rear wheel drive. The Drivers. The drivers are often swpped and changed between seasons however when the season is underway the driving roster stays largely the same. However during the Endurance events special, up and coming or veteran drivers will make guest appearances. There are generally two cars to a team, and when the endurance races are on the two drivers often receive co-drivers to carry the other half of the driving. Need anymore info, head to V8 Supercars HM

| Thanks you for these many informations. I love this series so much and I'm looking every race. Yeah, the cars are so simple. But this simple technics is the best. I'm impressed about the acceleration from these cars. The sound is crazy, real V8 sound. And the flames which comes outside frome the sidepipes during the driver shift down..that's amazing. I wish these series comes to germany sometimes. Is there in Australia any magazins or any merchandising about this series? Maybe you can send me some stuff about this. I pay for this.
