| Sydney: WSID private track booking Sunday March 19th If aynone is keen to have a first go at drag racing their street car at WSID in a friendly and relaxed environment, this day is for you. It's organised by a friend of mine who runs the V8Owners forum. Basically it is a full day private track hire at WSID for Sunday 19th March. You can have as many passes in your street car as your heart desires. It's a great way to get a best ET because you can practice over and over. Also it is a private day so there are no spectators allowed (only friends and family). The cutoff for cars is 11.000 so any car faster than this will not be allowed to compete. Anyone who has been thinking about running their car at WSID on a Wednesday night .. this is your perfect chance to get a friendly introduction. Let me know here or via PM if you want a ticket. Source: http://forums.v8owners.com.au/showthread.php?t=1905 It's all confirmed, the 5th V8Owners Private WSID hire is locked in. A casual and relaxed day of drag racing for V8Owners members, friends and family. As many laps as your beast can handle! We have tried to put together a good value all-inclusive package with some additional features this time... We have put in place procedures to streamline the process as well (no need for crew or spectator details, simply hand out your tickets as required). Please support the day, you will have a blast! Also, try and encourage drag racing newbies to sign up as well, these days are a great introduction to the sport. All inclusive price of $250 includes the following:- Driver entry 2 x crew tickets 3 x spectator tickets Breakfast, lunch and drinks for driver, crew and spectators 1 x Media disc with photos and video from day Driver entry for reaction time competition (there is a prize!) Spectator areas PLUS Corporate box "Chillout Room" No additional administration or spectator entry fees apply. Chillout room In addition to the track-side spectator area, we have arranged an air-conditioned "chillout" room (corporate box by the track). The intention is to provide an area where people can get out of the sun for a while, and sit in comfort. Pertinent for families, but all welcome. Schedule for Day 8am gates open Breakfast and Scrutineering between 8am ~ 10am 10am driver briefing, racing commences 1pm stop for Lunch (30 mins) 1:30pm ~ 4pm afternoon session, including reaction time comp WSID Gates close 5:30pm Driver and Car requirements Usual WSID street meeting rules apply, please read up on them Cars faster than 11.0 seconds no longer permitted for WSID private hires (new track rule) ANDRA license holders must race under their ANDRA number Drivers require ASA approved helmet, enclosed shoes, long sleeve shirt and long pants Your most recent drivers license Media Grant Stevens will be attending on the day. All photography will be made available on disc and provided to each driver as part of the package. I am trying to arrange some video to be included on the disc as well. You are free to take your own photos on the day. Drivers should be aware that images will be posted on the internet, if this concerns you please remove or cover your registration plates. Grant will be able to print images as required, see him during or after the event. Rainout Policy If it is raining on the morning, it is likely the track will postpone the event. In this case, we may be liable for fixed track costs; this could be around $10 per driver. We will post a message on v8owners before 7:30am on the morning of the event. We can arrange phone calls on the morning for those travelling a long distance to the event. Where it rains during the event before lunchtime and the track declares it a washout, a pro-rata refund applies. Where it rains after lunchtime and is declared a washout, no refund applies. That is the deal on offer. Refund Policy V8owners will assist in transferring tickets where circumstances dictate you can no longer attend, we will maintain a reserve list for this purpose. Surplus crew and spectator tickets If you cannot use your crew and spectator tickets, we suggest you sell them for $5 each. The ticket covers breakfast, lunch and drinks. We will provide a separate thread for people wishing to buy and sell their spare tickets. How to get your tickets Go to the V8Owners online shop and click "Add to Basket" - follow the instructions. The process will take you through an online ordering proces which includes bank account information. Please select POSTAL ORDER FORM; this will simply yield a printable form with all details - so you can deposit the money into the V8O Club bank account, we will send out driver, crew and spectator tickets once payment is received. Please use the address you would like your tickets mailed to.

| Good fun and a chance to get in heaps of passes and see what everyone's BMW can do! Kenny and I are both attending so any DTM members will have a member they know there. Plus, those V8 guys are a friendly bunch ![]() Before everyone baulks at the cost consider this if your not sure about throwing your hat in the ring. It costs $45 to run at Wicked Wednesdays, of which you get no food and a considerable time between runs. The average number of runs is 4 per night so it's an average cost of a shade over $11 Kenny's been to one of these before and I believe he had in the region of 20 passes over a 5+ hour period. Which is a cost of $12 and change per run. When you factor in you get breakfast, lunch and drinks for yourself and your crew and specators, a private track session, a video disc of all your photos and video footage and a private air conditioned booth at WSID for specators it's bloody awesome value for money. And it probably makes sense for the people like Simon who are keen to have a run out and see what their machines will do but life far away. Also a good chance to bring your GF, wife or mates out for a day and have your own cheer squad So everyone's out of excuses!

| it's 230,000km's old, as far as I know it's all 18year old gear in it.. I'm all for it, but my dad keeps promising something will break if I put it under Wed night conditions..let alone an event like this. Honestly, I flog the ring off the car quite regularly and it loves it..I think.. It's been all checked over by my dad (mechanic by trade), and he says it's fine.. but drag racing. I guess my question is a little all over the place, but what tends to die from drag racing, specifically in E30's..if anyone has experience? Just so I can kind of guage how..ready my car is? |

| I guess it's really hard to say. It's not like I'm going to guarantee you you won't break anything! (I bet you'd hold me to it and it'd cost me a nice M20 rebuild!) ![]() It's no more stressful that the flogging you'd normally give it when your up and going. I don't know what diff ratios you run, but anything like a 3.73 or longer (3.25, 3.15) your only going to have 2 gear changes anyway 1st-2nd and 2nd-3rd. Just drive it like you normally would when your having a spirited drive. There's no need for you to do a burnout in the burnout area if you don't want to. It's not particular stressful on the clutch as your not really slipping it or giving it huge revs off the line. But that's a consumable part anyway. All depend on what type of diff you've got, if you can freely spin the wheels off the line it's all less stressful on the drivetrain so less chance of breaking anything. Your not going to rip the subframe apart or anything like that.

| Drag racing is a lot easier on your street car than say circuit racing. Having said that, it's your driveline that gets the hard work at a drag meet. Think clutch, diff, rear end, half shafts, CV joints, tailshaft. But with street tyres on stock cars , you aren't liekly to see any breakages. Once you get more power and sticky tyres, then you start to break driveline components.

| Haven't had the car for a week (getting new bushes in the rear end). Honestly - my primary focus atm is my other hobby, and I have an exhibition on 1/4/06 which I am participating in for the first time - so I need to get it all done before then. But the next one.... |

| Sorry... all the red was tripping me out!!! Kenny - did you swap the MINI for it? O.
