Tom: Ok guys (and girls) here's the plan! Sorry I don't have an actual map at this point, my scanner is screwed and 'll need to duck into uni and use their's. Don't worry, a printed cruise info sheet will be handed out to everyone on the day. The itinerary may seem a bit short with the cruise officialy ending at 3pm, but I've put in a lot of slack for points of opportunity to take pics, go bowling at Wiseman's (if they're open) or if some people want to drive around more, I'm sure something can be arranged by either Don or myself. Afterall its your cruise and we want everyone to enjoy themselves.

If anyone has a nice BBQ and backyard they'd like to volunteer, we can head there instead for lunch and/or do both. I'd offer to do it at my place but we don't have any outdoor furniture whatsoever or a BBQ
WATCH THIS SPACE! Now For Something a Little Different..
Here's something I've wanted to try for a while to try to get cruises to be more organised and less ad hoc and make it up as you go along. Therefore I present to you the DTM Trial Cruise Organisation. If someone can think of a cooler (and SHORTER name) I'm open to suggestions

This will be a system that will be used from now on for all formal cruises and will evolve as we iron out any problems that we may come across as well as from member feedback.
DTM TRIAL CRUISE ORGANISATION
To avoid cruises getting split up en route and the difficulty of 20 cars trying to follow the one guy at the front, we are trialing a simple arrangement that takes advantage of having multiple "cruise leaders" and a car buddy system.
The entire cruise will be broken down into groups of ideally 4 cars each, led by a selected Cruise Leader who will be briefed on the specifics of the route beforehand. These groups will convoy behind the Cruise Captain's (one of the Reps) own section that will serve to set the pace for the whole cruise.
Each car will be allocated to a group of their choice on the day and teamed up with a "buddy". The idea here is to never let your buddy out of sight in traffic and that everyone is looking out for one another. Think about your buddy behind you when the lights turn yellow, at a roundabout, when you’re overtaking etc. This will make for safer and smoother cruising.
REGROUPING POINTS
There will be formal regrouping points on every cruise usually before a nice set of twisties or a good photo op and will serve as a chance for seperated sections to catch up and any potential problems to be dealt with by the Rep. These points will be marked on the cruise route.
ADVANCE PARTY
On cruises to destinations that do not have assured parking on the day, one of the Reps will depart 15 - 20 mins early to the destination to gather up to date info and to make parking arrangements. Hopefully getting a convoy of 20 cars to do U turns every 5 minutes in order to find appropriate parking will become a thing of the past!
Up to 3 other cars may join the Advance Party should they so wish. Joining the Advance Party will give you an opportunity to have a more ‘spirited’ drive, however its not a licence to be stupid and a decent CB radio is mandatory.
RETURN LEGS
The return journey is a lot more flexible depending on when and where people need to go. There will always be a planned return leg but the Reps will be open to suggestions on the day.
COMMUNICATIONS
CB Radios don’t tend to work too well over long distances, a mobile and handsfree set is recommended should you become seperated. A list of names, cars and phone numbers will be taken down for every driver on the day prior to departure by the Cruise Captain.
DRIVER BEHAVIOUR DISCLAIMER
Any illegal activity will not be condoned by the DTM Reps and the DTM Power forums. Any illegal activity is at your own risk, however it will not be appreciated and DTM Power members who deliberately drive unsafely and put others at risk will be severely reprimanded. Drive safely!
