A1 Grand Prix - Eastern Creek 6th Nov 2005

Was anyone planning on going ?

Saturday is qualifying & some support events.

Sunday is the race, from the website "Sunday's A1 Grand Prix action begins with a 15 minute warm up session at 10:00. The race action begins at 13:30 with the Sprint Race, lasting approximately 20 minutes and featuring a rolling start. The results from the Sprint Race determine the grid order for the main Feature Race lasting approximately 1 hour starting at 15:00 and featuring a compulsory pit stop to change tyres."

If I end up going I'll go sunday, got too much on to go both days.

yes tickets can be bought at the gate.
I'm going on sunday with a couple of mates, one who scored free tickets whoo hoo!

A few of us are meeting up at the Caltex on the M4 at 9:00am then we were going to go to the track from there.

If you want to meet up with us thats the place & time.

what a great day.. getting sun burnt whilst going almost deaf to the awesome sounds of the a1 cars.. spotted both of you iain and rob! was gona say hi but you's were walking across and i was all the way up the top!

Yeah what a DAY !!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely awsome , just as F1 to see and hear those machines Uhhhhhhhh. We (Iain and I) where at turn No 2 where all the actions happened - many accidents (one very very nasty but the driver is OK)

The cars were awsome!

I was only a couple of 100 meters from that crash when it happned. What an impact. Hope the dude was ok, the helicopter lifted him away after the race.

man those are some good shots, my mate also took some very cool shots on his swanky camera with it's stupidly big zoom lens.

btw, "Shimoda was momentarily knocked unconscious but by the time he was extracted from the cockpit and taken to the medical centre he was conversing with the medical staff"

did any1 see the medical chopper leave though afetr the race.

I hope the dude is ok. I was not far from that crash and he hit that concrete wall at a crazy speed, everybodies hearts skipped a beat I think. I can't believe there weren't tyres there for saftey

Yeah it was a great day, I remembered the sunscreen, but you always forget a few places

Even that Chrysler safety car sounded pretty awesome (the 300c not the convertible thing)

Have a lot of pics & some video, may need to build a new video editing machine before I can do much with it tho .... watch this space.

I spoke to one of the marshalls, he said the guy was talking and "seemed ok" so with any luck he'll race again. Looking at the wreckage its testament to how well those things are designed & the strength of modern composite materials.

Well their driver wasnt very good, think he ran off turn 2 more often than he made it round OK

The French guy was very good & very quick.

Damn! I should look at this site more often or at least over the weekend, was so keen to go but couldn't get any of my mates to partake. Was keen to hear the V8's in these things - Did they sound anything like our V8 supercars or a more refined V8 sound? what do the A1 engines rev to?
Please, i hope someone got some photos of the pitgirls - they looked pretty good on the TV
