| crazy car ripoffs Dont worry, all good now. short story as follows: To get a new alternator, i was told i would have to get one from germany, cost $550 + Labour. rang up para presteige 2nd hand one $150 rang up ASV 2nd hand one $120 Decided to pull it out of the car and go get a quote. Took it to a shop in annadale, tested it and said minimum $250-300 to reco it, about 3hrs labour... Said thanx but no thanx, i looked at it, unscrewed the brush/regulator assembely, the contacts were well worn, so i decided to try t he next bosch autoelectrician on my list in Alexandra. Spoke to a guy showed him the regulator and he said yeah probably the problem. Got me a new one on the spot $45, said hang ten and he would put it in and test it for me. Guess what, 5 min later he comes back. and..... Problem solved!! Moral of the story, DONT be lazy, get in there and pull things apart, + dont trust anyone. my $0.02
