Where to buy: AFM --> MAF Does anyone know anywhere in Australia you can buy a AFM to MAF conversion kit? They are available for the m20 in America @ BMP design : Mass Air Conversion Kit ...but wondering if there is a local supplier?

I have used an SMT 6 piggy back computer from Welcome to Perfect Power - Complete Engine Management and Fuel Injection Systems including Stand-alone and Piggy-back Systems and an E36 MAF for all my conversions, works a treat only requires a few wires to be hooked up and has much more tuning potential than Miller MAF or the BMP units. You will need a tuning shop to install and tune the unit, cost of full conversion including dyno tuning should be around $1000 or a little less. On a 325i and 318is you should see 10 kw at the rear wheels, which is an excellent bang for buck upgrade not to mention easy future tune-ability.

In fact I'm about to do another conversion on my 323i race car, so hopefully should be able to post before and after charts in a few weeks time, still I will try and find my old charts. |

Wow - not bad. I was happy to do the conversion for a project aimed at better throttle response only... but if I'm going to get gains as well (albeit, fairly small), what a bonus! If you DO find those dyno charts it would be great to see them though. Cheers mate.

Hey look what I found... Ireland Engineering Shopping Cart NOT BAD for around $600!!?? I'm seriously considering it.... Mr BMW - have you had any experience with the Ireland Engineering MAF stuff?

Thanks for the note Mr BMW... if you hadn't steered me away, I probably would have bought the Ireland Engineering unit. Can you tell me what tuning is involved in the piggyback unit? If all you're doing is replicating the existing signals the AFM was sending to the ecu? Or is the unit you suggest above a full engine management system?

the unit gives you full control via ignition and fuel maps and is programmed using windows software, hence why you can achieve the gains and customise the tune to any mods you have done to the car.
