I'm having a problem with the speaker that is located underneath the dash in front of the clutch pedal. The speaker is used to make the bell like noises when your door is open when you turn your car on. If you don't know what I'm talking about take a look at the pictures. The problem I'm having is that the speaker is making a hissing/crackling noise at all times, even when I turn the car completely off. First off, shouldn't the speaker be off when the car is off, and not even getting a signal?
I tried to find out whether the problem lied within the speaker itself, the cables carrying the signal, or whatever was producing the signal. I know it's not the speaker, because I hooked up another speaker to the cables, and I got the same hiss/crackle. I don't know where the cables for the speaker lead to, so if anyone knows where they do that would be a great help.
Has anyone ever experienced this problem other than me? I need a solution. I'm afraid that since the speaker is getting a signal, that something must be on, and therefore draining the battery. Also, the noise is quite annoying. The noise is always present though, whether the car is on or off, although it is less noticeable when the car is on because of my stereo and engine noise.
