| most routers have NAT (network address translation) which makes it pretty hard to hack you. the firewall allows you to set up specific permissions for specific ports (like port 80, http server, block incoming). firewalls can get complicated, but most routers simplify them substantially...anyway, if you really have questions that you want answered PM me with a phone number and i can explain anything. i used to do some security kinda jones for Navy, DISA, NSA, and the pentagon....so i know some stuff. |
