Paint job

How much does a nice paint job cost? Like BMW grade paint?

A quality one where they strip the car to bare metal and give it at least one coat of paint and a clearcoat can be upwards of 5k, easily.

what he said. with OEM BMW paint.. where they strip all exterior AND interior paint (the paint just inside the doors, and in the engine.. ) give it a few coats of paint and a very very ncie shine.. it will easily cost you around 4grand or more. a minimum cost of 5grand might be pushing it.. but its not cheap.

if you are going to get it repainted just do the real deal. Maaco is not an alternative unless your car is just a beater. but if its a beater no need to repaint it.

but it looks oh so good in the end after you pay those big $$$ for fresh paint.

also, just one coat of color isnt a good idea anyway. ask around at a car show and u can tell a difference from a car with 5 coats and a car with just 1.

yes resale value will usually drop.. since its not all original paint..

however.. if its a really old car that has BAD/rusted/chipped/scratched paint.. then a new paintjob will help the sale value..

it just depends on the situation.

i too thought about this.

i thought about getting a 325 or 328is and then repainting it estoril.. but after learning how much the paint job.. a GOOD one... will cost.. ill just save the few extra pennies to get the m3.

Maaco is doing my already-stripped front/rear bumpers for $450 because I ''know a guy''

They're doing the top of the line job... Two coats of paint, wet sanding, third coat, then clearcoat (if i remember correctly)... it's gonna look f'n amazing. Estimate they gave a guy who came in just before me, for, oddly enough the exact same job = $780!

And.. California's district attorney went to the same shop, paid for the same job as above for his S400 I think it was... Wound up looking better than factory. (some MB can't remember which model)

yea, maaco isnt that bad depending on which shop you go to, they did a really good job on some bodywork and a good job on the paint on an old car of mine. it looked pretty much perfect when it was done.
screw paying 5 grand for paint.

Sorry, Maaco IS BAD.

A paintjob where they strip your car will cost way upwards of 5 grand, unless you do all the labor yourself. I am getting my car painted the same color, and I am not gettin the interior/engine bay painted and it is close to 4k. It really isnt nec when you are not switching colors, bec the inside isn't cleared anyways.

Also changing the color of your car

Fritz, what color are you thinking of? Hopefully Leguna Seca Blue...that is the HOT shit.

Personally I like the green cause you dont see those alot...but if you want it to show...get Leguna Seca, Lambo Red, or a hot yellow.

i didnt know they'd strip the interior too

and maaco does suck, their paint jobs normally dont last as long nor as high of a quality either.

Well, i just got my car almost all the way painted everything except the roof and trunk for $4k so it is gonna cost you at least $5k. I hope you are doing this through insurance because otherwise you are paying to much for paint.

A concours quality paintjob is going to run over 10k. Lambo/Ferrari paint jobs are like 30k.

the paintjob maaco did on my car was great... maybe the ones where you live are bad, but they arent all run the same... a high end bodyshop that works on porsches, bmws, etc by my house does the prep work there and then sends it to a particular maaco for the spraying and baking.
