| just think of each bulb like it's a key, with each one having certain tabs, etc, that will only make it fit a headlight that has the corresponding cutouts.
9005 and 9006 are basically the same bulb (same size too), but the 9006 has a dipped/painted/covered front end to make it not quite as bright. they are typically used for low beam headlights in cars. also, the "keying" is different than on a 9005, as well as the "keying" for the plug.
it's very easy to modify a 9005 to work in a 9006, and vice versa. just have to clip some tabs on the bulb and inside the plug area. takes less than 5 mins.
h1 is like the little brother to the h7, but they don't share much in common except for their overall design. their size, keying, and plug are completely different. you can make a h7 work in a h1 housing, but you would need to do some grinding and modifying.
some bulbs have more advantages than others, but it basically comes down to what kind of headlight design the manufacturer decided to use with their cars. |
