paint chip on fiberglass

does anyone know why paint chip easily on fiberglass?
coz I just found out the lip is full of tiny white dots now, I am not
going to repaint it again, so what are the best ways to prevent
it?

can someone tell me where can I get stone guard in large piece,
so I can customize one for the lip...also, will touch up paint fix the
chipping? I have done some touch-up for my integra before, but it
looks nasty, never can get it smooth as before. Any website or
write up to do a perfect touch up???

You cant fix it, I have the same problem. I need to repaint mine and buy put stonegard after. I have hundreds of chips, some big and some small.

My whole front bumper is fiberglass. HOnestly the best way to prevent it is to get that stone guard stuff. Not sure where u get it but u can get it in large sheets. the only problem with that stuff is u can see it and i've seen where it has turned yellowish over time. I decided not to get it, instead i drive very carefully like i did when i got wheels. I stay at least 6 carlenghts behind everyone at all times. Even if i have to go slow (hey its better then repainting) and if i do get a rock chip, i used a tooth pick to touch up. All u do is dip the toothpick in the paint and get a little drop on the end and then put it on the chip right in the center. U will see how the paint spreads by itself to the outside of the chip. Looks pretty good to, can hardly tell. Basically just stay way behind people so they don't shoot up rocks........

Give Griot's Garage a call. They have large rolls of it I believe. I bought a roll 3 or 4 years ago.

As far as stone chips go, you can't just dot on some touch up and think it will smooth itself out. Get a pick and really clean it out. Then dot on some color with a toothpick. NOT MUCH though. Then let it dry. Repeat a few more times until it's built up a bit. Now go at it with some sand paper on the end of a pencil (eraser end). Don't smooth it out just yet though. Get some very fine stuff, maybe 4000 grit and smooth it out. Some people like to wet sand at this point. Then buff it out and enjoy repeating on the others.

4000 grit?? I assume you mean 2000, and then compound it.
