speeding question (short)

I got a speeding ticket. An undercover car clocked me, and another guy up the way picked me up. I asked to see the laser and they couldn't show me because "it was already erased." Aren't I allowed to see the laser if I ask? Any help or experience would help. Also how would i argue this in court? BTW I'm in Iowa.

call a lawyer and see if they will talk to you ON THE PHONE because they will charge your ass if you go in.

Try and talk to a lawyer, but technically, its your word against his, so if you fight it, you will most likely lose. Best get a lawyer, its may cost you some $$$$$$ but its the smartest approach.

yeah definately get a lawyer. Depending on how bad you were speeding (and therefore how many points you would get) the $250-300 for a lawyer is much MUCH cheaper than 3 years worth of jacked up insurance...

yes, u do have the right to see the laser scanned when asked so... at least in cali u can. i'm sure it works the same everywhere else.

when i was stopped for speeding several months ago, i politely asked for the laser reading, but the guy said that he clocked me with his speedometer. bullshit. however, i couldn't do jack s***, so i had to pay a huge fine and get i think 4 points because i was charged with going pretty fast.
