| Rotor and Brake Pad Hi! Everybody! This is my first post. I have a 97 M3 and installed a Porterfield front brake pad two months a ago, but still keep sqeeking all the time. Since also is time to change my rear brake pad, i will change both front and rear rotor, plus the rear pad. Do you guys think i still can use the front brake pad? By the way, which rotor and rear pad should i buy? where? Please help me here? (I hate sqeeking) |

| Actually, i bought those porterfield from the web and then paid $60 for the installation only and those people said they already put a lot of anti squeal on the front pads, but still...... The only way is change the rotor. What do u think? If i need to change the rotor, any recommandation?? Brembo or ATE?? Where can i get a reasonable price, because i am going to need 4 of them. ![]() |

| if your going to upgrade to brembo or atp you wont need 4 , 2 are ample you just need them on the front , front do 75 % of the work rear does 25% the rears dont need them , dont ever re use the pads on new rotors , and the sqeauling would be more the pads not the rotors in my opinion..............ive had similar problems and am now using brembo's as well......havent had a problem steve ![]() |

| For the brake squeal I use CRC brake quiet, its available at any local parts store. Even works pretty well on track pads. As for rotors if they can't be cut beause they won't be within spec, then I would suggest you use cheap brembos. You can get them for about $50 a piece at bimmerparts.com . You can reuse your old pads that should be no problem. For the rear buy the same portfield pads. |

| If you're gonna change your rotors, you may as well get the Euro Floating rotors, thats what came stock on the Euro M3s. They're about $108 each @ www.pacificbmw.com |

| Thanks for all the help! Everybody are so nice over here. I still haven't design which rotor should I get. I guess i will either order brembo or Euro Floating rotors, but would anyone tell me where i can get a good deal for those rotors? Also, any favor installation store in los angeles area? At last, I have to say "THANK YOU" one more time. ![]() |

| do the euro's give you more stopping power?

I woiuld say unless your going to track the car the euro rotors are a waste of $. You can buy the pair of brembos for the cost of 1 euro rotor. There both going to wear away . |

| I thought that the Hawk brake pads were the best around because they weren't pron to sqeaking that much. I too will soon need to rotors all around and brake pads. I have Pagid now all around and I truly hate them. Whats the difference between the stock and brembo rotors. Is there that big of a difference because I am just the causal street driver and don't want to go crazy with brakes (otherwise I would just get a big brake kit). I am not really leanning to zimmerman cross drilled because I have heard many complain of rusting problems. Also brake pad wise, I was thinking Hawk, but what do you guys think. Any other recommendations. Jeffrey

| I have reading past threads on rotors and brake pads, and many people use many different set ups. You should try reading past threads. I have come to the decision though that Hawk HPS (Street) Brake Pads are really the way to go, you can find them at www.tcklineracing.com. I haven't read anything negative about them so I have definitly decided on those. For rotors however, I am still undecided. I have truly read something negative about every aftermarket rotor out there. I have read that the zimmerman cross-drilled rust and warp and may crack, however to deal with the rusting, you can paint the rotors but Ireally don't want to go that far. Some have said that if you go euro floating roters, make sure they are cryogenically heated or something to that nature, but I too have read that they can warp, depends on the brake pad I guess. Basically cross-drilled/slotted are a waste and only look good. Many say stay oem so I might go the Brembo route for the front and stock in the back. Not sure yet. Haven't read much about the brembo cross-drilled. I will be reading up more and letting you know. Jeffrey
