BMW Track Day - Wakefield 26th May

Sorry for the short notice. I just received details in a e-mail.

The next BMW NSW track day is on the 26th of May at Wakefield.

Those wishing to participate, you must be a BMW NSW club member and full payment is due on the 20th of May.

For information on becoming a BMW NSW member, go to http://www.bmwclubs.asn.au/nsw/

The cost for the track day is $125 for normal BMW members and a CAMS license is required. A 1 year CAMS licenses can be obtained on the day for $66.

PROGRAM
Scrutineering: 7:30am - 8:45am (DO NOT BE LATE, otherwise no guarantee of starting)

Your car must pass scruitineering to be allowed on the track. An inspection (simular to the annual registration check) will be carried out prior to Driver Briefing in the morning. Emphasis will be placed on good brake pedal, brake lights, steering and no fluid leaks. Remove all loose objects from the interior and boot.

Compulsory Driver Breifing: 9:00am - 9:15am

Morning Sessions: 9:15am-12:30pm

Our standard format consisting of groups of 6 or 7 evenly matched cars competing in 10 minute sessions. ALL sessions are timed. Overtaking is restricted to the main straight. Instructors are permitted in cars during the morning and will be happy to give support and encourangement where requested. One Novice session.

Lunch: 12:30pm - 1:30pm

Afternoon Sessions: 1:30pm - 4:30pm
Supersprint format with one warmup lap and four hot laps, however re-grouping may be neccessary in order to maintain safety on the track. NO instructors are permitted in cars during the afternoon session.

Fire Extingusher: The minimun requirement is for a 0.9kg fire extingusher to be firmly affixed to the vehicle, allowing for quick driver access in the event of an emergency. Headlight protection will be required with clear plastic contact film over all frontal glass on front lights. Secondary bonnet restraint for forward opening bonnets required.

Dress: For all sessions, neck to wrist to ankle coverage in non-flammable clothing (cotton, wool, or nomex) including socks. Leather upper shoes only - NO SYNTHETIC SNEAKERS WILL BE PERMITTED. A helmet, in good condition, marked as complying with Australian Standards (or equivalent) must be worn during all sessions. Bring your helmet to scruitineering to be checked. Dress is to be maintained at all times until exiting the car at the end of your session.

See you guys there :)

Nice :)

I'm getting all excited now.

I'm going to ring up about that Strutt brace for $100 and get it if its still available and will fit.

I think I may need a wheel alignment done before then though. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where and approx how much it would cost to get it done?

Can I mount the extinguisher to the solid plastic base of the seat? just at the front part?

Not sure. Give Andrew from ALS a call on 02 9798 6511

Quick Question... (Aaron).. ;)

Is the setup at Wakefield Park similar to what I experienced at Oran Park, in relation to the viewing/marshalling area?? As in, will I (and others) be able to walk around the cars from the groups not in the race taking place at that specific time, and take photos/talk to the owners like we did at Oran Park... and then is the viewpoint as close to the track as was the case at Oran Park...?? Just basic inquiries... :) ... doesnt bother me either way... just curious ;) !! Thanx... I am really hoping I can get down there :D, and take some photos and have a nice day with fellow DTMer's / BMW Members.. :)

Cheers... :D

Babs,

Allingment and rotation will set you back around $35. I know if a place on the Coast that does "On Car" Balancing & Allingment. I believe that On car allingment is the best, as it done on your car. There are most probably places on Sydney that also do it, but on the Coast, there is only one place that does it. If you want to go up and do it one weekend, we can. I need to get mine done too.

I get mine done at the Good Year on Parramatta Rd near ALS. I think it's around $95 for the whole lot. Bit on the expensive side, but they do a really good job. They can also adjust camber and toe in/out.
