Not really unless you want a clean install and hardwire it.

Nope, its plug 'n play in the cig lighter. It comes with the hardwiring stuff you need if you wanna do it nice though, then you just need a sodering iron or at least some wire splices.

How much $$ do V1's run for? And how well do they work round lots of hills?

they run $399 and the new design is a bit smaller than the previous generation.
Omid let me borrow his for a few days and it worked pretty good but yet got annoying at times.

The V1 saved Vishal and I 10 times, while travelling to and from So-Cal for the Wheel Power Fest II show! I am a believer!

Sadly, we could not save one of ours on the way down.

damn porsche! I hope calvin does not get reemed by the cops down there

BTW...I have decided to get a V1 after some close calls and being saved by Vishal and ben on the way down to LA a couple times. I figure its worth it considering the ticket would be that price

So will this thing beep if there's a pig behind you in the freeway?

well - to a certain extent.
more useful for cops up front as cops behind you could pace you from a distance.

I had the passport 8500 and the V1 mounted and everytime the V1 would pick the signal up false or not sooner than the 8500. YMMV.

Escort does have a nice accessory for the V1 called the Shifter which jams the laser signal then when you fall back to the appropriate speed it releases the laser signal.
