Your 635 is actually an inline 6 cylinder, and the engine coed is M30. Im sure you can put one of those engines in. The one in the 735/535 of the erly 90's is what I would go with, they got a bump in compression and you wont have to deal with too many wiring harness issues and converting too much stuff. Its basically the same engine, the M30, but newer and has is a bit re-done. Plus you wont have to change the engine mounting points. A V-8 will be a pain in the ass.
