| I did this in my 97 m3.Doing about 80 in 3rd went for 4th and nailed 2nd for like 2 seconds rpms hit around mid to high 8ks.Car ran like crap like it had 25 hp.Pulled over and shut car off.In tears thinking of how much damage I just did .Got the car about 2 weeks before this.I turned the car back on praying and the car did some weird stuff rpms went up and down went up to 1500 for like 5 sec and then back to normal.Car sounded ok so I drove it home.
I took it to the dealer and they checked it out.They told me that its compresion was good and the computer didnt mark an over rev.I was like ok I knew the car hit close to 9k They said it ran like crap because I floated some valvs and when I shut it off and back on they went back down.
Hope this helps out I was very lucky that my car is ok.But deep in me I will never feel like my car is back the way it was.I installed uuc tranny mounts after this and will be changing the retainers and springs soon when I do my cams.Because I know it wont take another rev like that again.  |
