| Do you have factory amps on any of the speakers? This happened to my 89 GTC lebaron (since deceased from a rear end accident) when I put in an aftermarket stereo (Kenwood CD player). After the install I would get sound from the radio but (same as you) no sound when playing CD's. I took it to a car stereo installer and they found that the four of the six stock speakers in the car had small amps on them. This is what caused no sound when playing a CD. Don't know why this happens but I just ended up replacing the speakers with infinity reference series and it resolved my problem.
