with electrical components anything is possible half could be fried one of the connectors bad ...anything! a broken wire might be your culprit though but its worth a shot. little story...a few weeks back my car was acting up terribly when I turned on my lights it looked like I was constantly riding the brakes...with the lights off during the day if I stepped on my brakes the drivers side turn signal would go on

I pulled the switch, it still happened I blew fuses if I turned on my fogs they would blink if I stepped on the brakes ....yes drove me nuts! I found out it was the drivers side taillight housing cover in the trunk the circuit board apparently was grounding itself out somehow..so that was the cause of all my problems I swapped it with a spare ...no problems since.
