Angry Passport 8500 or V1?

I am at a fork in the road where I have to decide which one is best for me. I cannot afford any more speeding tickets, AT ALL. I can spend about 300 I think. They have a Passport 8500 at the local BestBuy. The guy there said it was rated over the V1 at performance, but doesnt say where the cop is like the V1 does. So what should I go with?
Also, where should I place it? I saw the little mirror sticker thing, but is that an additional 300 dollars to the V1's price? So that would be over 600 dollars? I dont want to shell out that much.
So what would be best?

Well I am a bit biased, but I say go with the V1. Both detectors have more than enough range. The Passport beat out the V1 because it had a few more "bells and whistles." Personally I like the arrows and the false alarms (from shopping centers, etc) don't bother me. I have learned to tell which ones are fake and which ones are mostlikely real (the arrows help with that). I also have the mirror by Jim Powell and it is very good, especially if you want a "stealth" install. I don't remember what the price is (it actually went down), but if you supply the mirror and the display unit, he will install it for you (you can e-mail him for a price). Hope this helps.

Do either one offer a sensor that you could add to the outside front and rear of the car? Im afraid my metalized tint will hinder its performance.

I'm happy with the V1. The passport runs $300 while the V1 runs $400.

check out www.radartest.com but don't be consumed on Passports higher reviews.

Uh, that test is BS, V1 kicks ass in all the important categories, but loses major points because the moron says its not LOUD enough and is too big! I forgot the reason, but he has a grudge against V1. Obviously I know as a V1 owner ure not supporting him, just pointing how why the test is skewed. His reasons are equivalent to someone getting a different car over a BMW because it has a better stereo.

The V1 by itself is not designed to be mounted outside the car. There is a company (Tigerlilly, Inc, or something like that) that makes an external box for the V1 that can be mounted behind the bumper. In our case, since our bumpers are made of aluminum (stock bumpers anyway) you would have to mount the box behind the grill. The bad thing about this method is you lose rear detection. When placed in the 3rd break light housing the V1 would have a clear shot forward (between the seats) and behind (through the 3rd break light housing) As long as you don't have metal tint on your windshield you should be fine. You might lose signals comming in at an angle through the side windows with the tint, but for the most part the V1 is looking forward. I don't have metalized tint so this is just an educated guess. My V1 works great in the 3rd break light housing.

Oh yeah, Pasport does have an externally mounted model coming out. It also incorporates a laser jammer that is very similar to the M-10 Blinder (which I have). I have not seen any test on it or a price though. The remote display for the thing looks like the display on the 8500.
