Radar Detectors: Passport Escort 8500 vs. Valentine One

I was just curious what radar detector between the two everyone feels is the best. I have the Passport Escort and did some testing with the V1, but I need some more opinions and information. So if you have either of the two radar detectors or both, please post with your opinions and comments. If you don't have one, I'd rather you didn't say anything because you probably read it off of Radartest.com or something. So if you have either of them, please post. I want to know about your experiences.

my friend just installed his v1 last night...we were driving home from the gym hopeing to run into a cop(lol) so we can test it. well were going and he slams on his brakes and i see him pointing to it and i see 3 little dots and the number 6, sure enough, right across the street were 6 cops with radar.

V1 - the radar range is good enough to make it just as effective as the new passports, but the display (direction, count, band and strength) in that layout are unparalleled and well worth going for the brand.

As for performance, I'd much rather not think about how many times over it has paid for itself (and it's a lot!).

also along with your experiences, if possible please provide how long before or how far before the threat the radar detector went off. For example, when I was driving with my Escort to California it went off signaling Ka band, 3/4 mile later boom there it was a highway patrol officer

I gave the passport to my dad for his birthday, in which he usus in his Yukon. We made the trip this christmas break from NC to Key West FL, and on I95, and all the other roads down there we hauled ass. When the detector went off we had plenty of time to slow down.... its a good one.....

Both are great detectors...I loved the 8500 though..When it beeped their was a cop. I have a little less experience with the V1, but from what I know and with what little use of it that I had I would have to say that its just as good if not better then the Escort. By the way I saw a new radar that just came out from Escort..not sure of the name of it though.

I've had a V1 for about 5 years now, its saved my ass I don't know how many times.

Its also shielded, so it can't be detected in states where radars are illegal. I don't know if the passport is also.

It tends to get more falses then other detectors, but I'd rather error on the side of caution.

Going off in a related tangent here, anyone here have experience with Passport's SR7 or SR1?

For those of you who don't know, SR7 and SR1 are Passport's remote radar units. With the sensors mounted on the front and rear license plates (sometimes mistaken for EZPass tags)
According to some, it is as effictive as the 8500. True or false?

At the local motoring shop, they had the 8500 and V1 in display. When I asked the salesman what was the best, he said they both work very well but in his opinion, he picked the 8500 over the V1 because it was cheaper and he said that it worked just as well.
Going on different forums, I noticed that some people SWEAR by V1, while others will argue to the death that their 8500 is much better. The V1 users say their radar has better range, has a bogey counter and the arrows. The 8500 users say the range is excellent, but the V1 has stuff you dont need to pay almost $100 more for.
I honestly don't trust radars so I don't really have an opinion.
