| I started the thread that Johnny Tran referred to. I have to say that I think it all depends on where you live and how you use it. The 8500 works well for me, but I haven't really experienced much with radars because of the quiet and serene neighborhood that I live in. The 8500 has the same multi-band feature as the V1 called the ExpertMeter. If you get an 8500 I recommend you keep this feature on at all times and get used to it. The only problem I had was on a trip to Dallas on I-45. There were many false alarms on the way so be sure to change the setting to Highway. When the detector goes haywire you will know that there is a cop somewhere close by.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and it's Escort Passport 8500 - not the other way around ;P
