Yo, the repair bills on that thing are HUGE. Inspection 2 is supposedly like 1500 at the dealer. There are pretty much two of everything on the car. 2 fuel pumps, 2 throttle motors, and i think 2 batteries. Expensive as hell to maintain. But if you maintain it right you will get a LONG life out of it. Gorgeus car. Best looking in Avus Blue.

I thought that all the 840s were 6 speeds and all the 850s were autos.... Guess I'm wrong???

The 8 series was released during an economic recession, that is why they did not sell well.

In the US, all 840's were automatics. In 91-92, 850i's were offered with a 6 speed option and in 94-95, the 850CSi's came only with 6 speeds. In europe the transmission options were different.

From what I understand,

Only the Euro 850csi was available with the 4ws system... Josh could probably help me on that one.

I have seen a 85ocsi once in Boca Raton FL. Man! What a ride. You have got the get the V12 850 with the 6 and if you can shoot for a CSI, its like the LTW of 8 series I guess.

I drove a 840ci here in the states with a manual tranny, 5sp. I have also driven a 850i and ci. I actually liked the 840 better from a handling and feel standpoint. I am sure the power of the csi makes up for that in the 850 though.

Magnus, I have been thinking of getting a 8er for a while, but have decided against it, gonna go older BMW soon I hope.

I must say, it's fuk'n expensive ! I've been reading for sale adds for a month, and I can't find a real mint version close to $45-50k Then I have to get the Zeemax kit, paint it, install it and get someone to work the trunk to spec.

I'll have to keep waiting!
