| Silly question about V1 vs. Passport 8500 Hi... i was wondering, since there's such a controversial issue between the V1 and Passport 8500, i was wondering if it's possible to do this, or if anyone has already done this... Buy a V1, and buy a 8500, install both of them on your car and do some daily driving for a week straight, and just compare them to see which picks up signals faster, which is more accurate, etc... Would something like that be possible? Or would the detectors malfunction since they're within the same area of space? You all know what i'm trying to say? What you guys think of this?

| Thats a thought, but I'm not sure if they would interfere w/ eachother. I have had a V1 for about 4 yrs now, and it's a great detector. My opinion is that if I was going to get a new one now, i would get a Pass. 8500. It's cheaper and it performs about equally as well as the V1. I don't think you can go wrong either way though ![]()

| Naw, it can't detect cops, it detect radar signals that cops use with their radar guns to catch speeders and that thing alerts u if it senses any waves, etc... but with laser, i think it's gotta be pointed right at u, and by then it's too late

| Using both at the same time would not work. Goto valentine1.com and read the info on how to do self testing. Inside of that link you'll find info on why the two being close together will reduce the distance they can detect radar. That's what radar detector tests are for, they create tests that are controled thus repeatable so they can get a valid test. The v1 and 8500 are very close. I just like the bogey counter on the v1 and telling me where it is comming from ![]() -Mike |

| The directional arrows are priceless man. I thought about the Passport, but I bought the V1 becuase of the arrows. When a cop with mobile radar comes up behind you, you can tell. When a speed trap is way up ahead, you get an arrow ahead. And when theres just some automatic store door to the side, you can tell too. It's great - I'd go for the V1.

| I have both...although I stick them in two different cars. From my experience with using both I can tell you that the V1 has greater range and like many of you before me, I agree about the directional arrows being priceless! The advantage the 8500 has is that it's less prone to false alarms and it's also perfect for the gadget freak with so many cool features! ![]()
