http://www.e31.net/ Good site for info...

http://www.clube31.com/

It should be possible to put a 6-sp as the E31 did in some models/versions have such. Not sure how cost effective it would be to execute.

Not sure which box the 6 speeder was but I do know the 850CSi had it as an option, one of the members here down under has one.

Did a quick search on the online ETK (yeah I love tabbed browsing ) and the box is in the diagram below

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...10&hg=23&fg=05

obviously more to it than that, but the rest is left as an exercise to the reader

Cheers,
Iain.

That six series shark logo is so awesome, Kaotiq. Makes me wish I had one of the "shark" models. Beaufitul car, btw. Sorry OT. Resume....

People refer to the e24 6 series as the "Shark" because of how the hood is shaped alittle bit more pointy than other bimmers and how the kidney grill looks etc etc.

Yeah, the E24 is one of many cars people call a shark, also some of the Porsche 928 guys call their cars shark or land-shark.

There was an advertisement for the 850CSi with sharks on it in each of the colours the car came in, have seen it on the net but can't remember the url

Know just the person to sent it to if I could find it again, one of the Aussie DTMers who has the only 850CSi in Aus.

Cheers,
Iain.

Shark "versions" refers to the "Neue Klasse" BMW's. 1600's, 2800 coupes, Bavaria's, 2002's, 3.0 CSi's and assorted coupes, E12 5ers, E23 7ers, E21 3ers, E24 6ers, E28 5ers, etc. Its because the hood overhangs the rest of the front bumper as in Kaotiq's sig.

Yep , it's me
Good to see an other 850 lover
Ur car sould pump uot 325 HP and can accelarate around 6.5 sec. 0-100kmh
U can throw in 2 different gearbox( with some mods. but mainly interior )
-the GETRAG 6 speed which came with the Csi versions as option
-or the M5 manual but that is only 5 speed(but not really recommended for E31's )
It could cost u an arm and a leg but beleive me : it's WORTH everything!!!
To drive that car with man. just like haven

I've been on a few drives with Rob, to see what happens when he drops it down a few gears and hits it is worth waiting to see, I kept expecting him to rip up the roadway

I guess the question that may remain to be answered is does the diff ratio need to change ?

Cheers,
Iain.

O.K. Guys, what are the Getrag numbers and will they fit an old 635 (80)? I am poised on the edge, I have a 265? I think (od 5 speed out of a 633). What do you think? I would love to get a 5.0 V-12. It's the American hot rodder in me!!

The 6er had the getrag 260, 265 or 280.

Not sure what the numbers are for the 6 speeder are, http://www.bmwmregistry.com/model_faq.php?id=11 has some stuff about the ratios.

Just found out, the 6 speeder in the 850CSi is called S6S 560G.

The 6er I posted about with the V12 in it from Sweden has to have the motor pulled to replace some of the plugs. I've contacted the owner to ask him what gearbox he's using.

Cheers,
Iain.
