| well i dont know how rare they are, but i do know that i never see them except once in a great while. although i did see a 850csi which i would def consider rare. but i like the looks of them because it was a radical design for bmw. |

| They aren't really that rare, but that depends on where you live.. There's a few floating around in Australia.. People say they are rare because of the astronomical price when purchased new - upwards of US$200,000! A really rare Eight Series model was the AC Schnitzer developed 850CSi.. The top BMW model was the V12 equipped 850CSi, Schnitzer tuned the engine suspension and aerodynamics etc.. Most of the Eight Series came with a 5 Speed (Possibly 6?) automatic transmission with sports modes.. Adaptive Suspension, heaps of computer controlled functions etc.. Alot of the OBC controls, electronic suspension and engine functions etc were introduced into the eight series and then cascaded towards other models A mate at work has recently purchased a white 840Ci with a six speed manual gearbox.. It's a beautiful car, especially since they are far and few between to be seen on the road.. Anyway, enough of my ranting! I'd love one! ![]()

| The dude was sell the car for $24,000 and it had 100,000 miles on it and a recent tune up. I just wanted to know if BMW ever made a car like it, i likes the look of it, but it does look somewhat funny...

| I wouldn't say they are rare, its just that not many people choose to own them now days. I think they are an awsome bmw, and I actually see them on the road quite often here in the Twin Cities (MN) area. They are more of an cult car now I think, not a cheap car to maintain I'm guessing, espeially the V12 850s...The latest issue of the Roundel has a great article about the lastest "8-Fest" gathering...if you get one, i bet you'll love it, and won't be alone. |

| They are fairly rare - they made 2x as many 850 as 840. IMO if you want one, get the 850... It drives AWESOME!!!!! here's my dad's with me taking off...: ![]() You can get them for real cheap - ours will reach 100,000 miles in less than a month and is still is GREAT running order; it has been well taken car of, though.. still - they are great undervalued cars!!!

| (I know i haven't posted in a while, but im putting a stop to that now!!! I'm sorry my fellow DTMpower.net friends.) I wish I was rich, i would buy me a Aston Martin V-12 Vanquish 007 Edition and a bmw 850csi "Bling Blam" ![]()

| If you wanted a really rare 8 Series - Get an Alpina B12 5.7! Super Bling! Hehe.. Nah as with all BMW Motorsport developed cars the 8 Series CS models are not cheap to run - but if you have the money to purchase one as if you can't afford to service one! I'm not really that sure about the aftermarket for 8's.. But if you had a wad of cash lying around turbocharging wouldn't be out of the question! I'd love to see a force fed V8/V12 8 Series on the forums someday! ![]()

| Well, the CSI is the most rare of all. They most have 6 speed manuals and the rest have 4 speed autos. I have a 91 850i and they are very reliable cars to own. The aftermarket for this is a pretty much custom deal, so this is where the $$ is needed. If not, the parts are not more expensive than the other BMW models. Karrbass...$24K for a 100K mile car is a bit too much, what year is it? 95 maybe? MikeyZ325...I went to the 8-Fest and there were 57 8's and 61 owners present. It was so much fun. Look at the links below for some info...click on the "Daily Recaps" close to the middle of the light blue "8". http://www.8-fest.com/events/recap.cfm?EventID=6
