The AA kit is already out...

As for the powerdyne units being problematic, i think you'll find your fair share of people who would beg to differ with that assessment. Obviously you'd want to find a Vortech V2-SQ, but those are prolly harder to find.

If you did go with the used "kit" you'd absolutely need to the SC chip from Dinan. Drive the car without that and 1. it won't run right at all, 2. you'd be risking major engine damage...

Hit the FI forums here and on bf.c, there's tons of info out there. You definitely want to be more informed before buying a used kit, or any kit for that matter.

As for your initial inquiry, in a straight line I suppose it would be very close and come down to driver skill more than anything....but in the words of a BMW/Dinan Dealer, a blown e36 "runs circles around" the e46 everywhere else.... Those aren't my words, simply one knowledable person's opinion.
