Thumbs down S-15 Jimmy VS. 740iL

Yesterday i was coming home from school and i was in the slow lane on 294. The guy pulls up to me in a newer 740 with M-spec mags and a aeusome sounding exhaust. I slammed on the gas and pulled away from him. Suddenly this guy come from no where and creped right next to me. I give hime the thumbs up and so does he. We go. He pulls away from me like a bat out of hell. I am slowly catching up to him. I give a thumbs up and pull of the freeway. I now have a newfound respect for the 740iL.

has anyone seen a new 745i yet in person. In the magazines they are not impressing me. I do love the classic lines of the 740 especiall w/ some nice wheels (thats a must.)

I've seen the 745i's in person at the local stealership Rallye BMW. They look much better in real life, and the interiors are NUTS! Nice race ALPINE///TOMIP, those 740's move!

the 745i is AWESOME

OMG dont ever question the Germans about their engineering ability, I have personally driven both the old and New 7 series. 1. The 750i which is a 12 cyl put out a respectable 322 hp however, in the 745i's 8 cyl- it puts out a mind blowing 325 hp which propels the car to 60mph from a standstart in 5.9 seconds. That is amazing. 2. the design deviates from Bmw's traditional style while taking a new approach in styling the body without side moldings, which several of our members here at DTMpower did to there E36's which by the way looks awesome-esp that yellow Bimmer from Underground Vision. The headlights are different in which the turn signal which spans the top of the headlight. It has huge 18 wheels std with 19 inchers as an option. Some people are stirred up with the trunk, I love it. I dont see whats the problem. The bulky antennas are replaced with an aggressive looking shark fin at the rear of the roof. To describe just some of the interior is a short book in itself. well I hope I gave you my 300 cents.

Honestly? I saw it/sat in it and was not impressed at all. The rear end and it's lack of flow is nothing short of disturbing. And I can't see how anyone could appreciate the front of the beast

I'm not questioning German Engineering. What I am questioning is who the heck hired Chris Bangle and why he wasn't given his 2 week notice two weeks ago

The car has lost it's sporty look (subjective), but inarguably the new cabin is lightyears less sporty in form and function than it's predecessor.

Who knows ...all i know is I am very dissapointed

I don't like the looks either--it doesn't look like it fits together, epecially where the trunk and the rear of the car overlap. I guess the styling will have to grow on me. I do like the interior though, except for that cheesy and flimsy looking shift on the column. I don't like the car, but I don't dislike the car. Hopefully the new 5 won't look like the new 7 does.

I saw my first 745 last week, and you described EVERY impression I had about the car..Looks boaty, there are no lines to follow on the car....Interior is plush of plush...MB plush…Unfortunately...

Anyone see a resemblance?

And it looks just like this in person...

When I saw the pics of the 745i, I was very dissapoined! I finally saw one at the dealership and WOW! I really like the styling of the car, especially eith the 19" rims! And 0-60 in 5.9sec is damn fast for a 7-series stock! The interior is reaaaaal nice and it has a lot of cool features!
