1985 735i (E23)

I am in the process of buying a 735i, it has a lot of miles but is still in good shape. but my questions are, what can be done in the need for speed? what should i do for a check on up the car? what are the normal problems (if any) with the 735i? And how long do the motors last; and how hard/ is it possibile to swap?

need for speed? Chip it, custom intake, custom exhaust and thats about it. Theres not alot of aftermarket support for the E23s and E32's it seems.

I got a 186xxx MILES on my motor, just under 300,000km, and its still going strong, heard that around 100,000miles is lke a break in period for the cars.

Let me grab you a link for E32 problems and see if it helps you a little more for your E23.

hay man finaly a smart one (1986 735i) anyway from experence here are a few things to look for

1 pull up all the carpet and have a cheak for rust

2 make sure the engine is cold when you go to test i find there is a starting problem when they are stone cold. if it dosnt start after 5 seconds of cranking it over its a heap of shit.

3 see if its the original engine if not realy have a good look at it or take it to a mechanic.

!4! look at the dash look for faiding or cracks (heavy sun exposure)

5 justa few normal things to cheak hoses interior etc etc

im not trying to put you off just making sure you dont buy a lemon of a car

they are a gangsta ride just dont expect to race it cause there for crusing (huge body roll lol)
