| Help with a 1982 745i purchase I recently found a good deal on a 1982 745i (3500 cc. and turbo) and was wondering if its a good idea to buy it. I will end up spending about $3200. The car has had 4 owners, 350,000 miles, test drove it, heavy but smooth and exciting, my first bmw . Any forseeable engine/transmission/electronics problems? I was thinking of getting it checked by a BMW dealer before I actually purchase it. The paint job on the car is still pretty good, but its not the color I wish it had (Comes with a light green and hoping to get it in red o black). So what do you guys think? What else should I check for now before spending $$ for a complete checkup at BMW... Any suggestion will be greatlly appreciated.update: I mixed up on the convertion from kilometers to miles. It has 175000 miles, had the turbo redone, a new engine block was installed, and the transmission checked which worked just fine. Last edited by Cascarria : 04-27-2005 at 07:09 PM. | vin# is the Vehicle Identification Number, its a way of identifying the car, go to carfax.com and enter that number into the site and if there is any info on the car it will show it too u, like if i was ever in an accident of a flood |

| car looks pretty clean, but definatly get a carfax. the VIN or Vehicle Identification Number is the car's ID and is usually located on the dash near the winshield on the drivers side. CARFAX will give you the vehicles history. also, i would definatly take the car to a BMW shop and have it fully inspected. its not free, but a car with 350,000 miles is old. i would get it checked out. good luck with your purchase. also, have you thought about looking at E30's? you could pick one up with much lower mileage for $3200. just a thought. ![]() |
